OK, just a disclaimer before we start today's blog:
I am so sorry for not uploading a blog for the past two weeks. That was the exam period and since I was busy studying, I did not have time to write an eco-blog. Let's jump straight into it!
The 3Rs, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. You've probably heard it a zillion times and know that it is related to being eco-friendly. However, have YOU been doing it? You may say, "If I do the 3Rs and everyone else does not, what's the point?" Well, EVERY individual's effort counts and Mother Earth greatly appreciates it.
So, what do the 3Rs mean?
Well, reduce means cutting down the number of plastic products and non-environmentally friendly products we use. Reuse means reusing a recyclable that you may receive. Last but not least, recycle means to sort recyclables into the recycling bins instead of throwing them away.
Now you may ask, "What's the point of doing the 3Rs?"
Well, to save the environment!
By reducing, you are actually minimizing the number of resources that you use! By reusing, you minimize the number of things that get into the landfill. By recycling, you stop the recyclables from entering the landfill and turn them into brand new things!
Reducing comes in handy when you are at a food court ready to get your drink. Refer to my first blog to see why plastic straws are bad for the environment. Furthermore, the straw you use may get stuck up a sea turtle's nose! So, you can reduce by not using plastic straws.
Reusing comes in handy when you have many draft sheets of paper (e.g. you were not happy with your drawing, the printing went wrong, etc. ). You can flip the papers over and scribble notes on the other side! So, you reuse the paper.
Recycling comes in handy...
Well, not to you, but society. When you recycle something, it gets combined with other recyclables that other people recycle to form brand new things like...
those! They are products made from recycled materials by IKEA.
Till next time, my friends! See you next week!
