Litter can be a common sight in Singapore, especially on grass patches. People just irresponsibly throw their trash on the ground, think that "oh, the cleaners will clean it up" or something like that. If you are one of these people, I have two questions for you. One, why do you think there will be cleaners cleaning the grass? Second, do you know that you are polluting the environment as well?
The worst kind of littering is BEACH LITTERING. Why? Well, this is because after you throw the litter onto the beach, strong winds may carry it to the sea. Then, two things may happen:
Sea animals will eat the plastic and starve to death, and
The plastics will break down into microplastics and pollute the waters.
Not only does littering destroy the environment and kill animals, but it also reflects a lot on your character. When one litters in a shopping mall, others will think that he/she is selfish and irresponsible. Why? They increase the workload of all the cleaners who have to work so hard to pick litter off the floor!
Here is a video on why not to litter:
Actually, litter can not only be outside, it can also be in the house! If you finished eating a banana and threw the peel on the floor, family members or even you yourself may step on it and fall! In the worst-case scenario, this can cause major injuries!
So, I say, if you are one of those irresponsible litterers out there, why don't you kick this bad habit? You are not only helping the community, but you are also helping the environment! Thank you, on behalf of the Earth!
Till next time, friends! Bye!
